Shared Life Challenge: One Life, Two Players
The Shared Life Challenge links two players into a single life: one health bar, one hunger bar, and one shared inventory. Every choice you make is felt by your partner, so surviving means playing as one team.
🎮 You don't need to type any commands to play, just walk into the portal and click. Everything is set up for you. The commands below are optional extras, mostly for parents and older players.
What is the Shared Life Challenge?
For players: You and a friend become one team with one life. If you take damage, your partner loses hearts too. If you eat, you both get fed. Whatever you pick up shows up for both of you in a shared 41-slot backpack. It is full of funny panic moments, big brave saves, and non-stop teamwork. There is even a hidden royal castle to find: the secret Castle of Shoham.
For parents: This is a fully cooperative mode built for exactly two players who work together, not against each other. There is no bullying mechanic and no winner or loser between the two friends. It is friendly, low-pressure, and rewards communication, patience, and helping each other, which makes it a great fit for a pair of kids or siblings.
How to start playing (your first minutes)
- Open Minecraft on your device (Java on PC, or Bedrock on console, phone, or tablet).
- Join your private SNT Gaming server using the address a parent set up for your kingdom.
- You will spawn in the lobby, Shoham's Kingdom. Walk into the Shared Life Challenge portal and step through it.
- Wait for your partner to enter too. The moment you are both in, the mode automatically pairs the two of you into one shared life pool, with no setup needed.
- Start exploring, gathering, and surviving as one team, remembering that your health, hunger, and inventory are all shared.
- Invite your friend from your whitelist so you are both online together. Older players can check the link any time with the optional
/sharedlife statuscommand.
How the Shared Life Challenge works
- Shared health: There is one health bar for the pair. When one player takes damage, both players lose the same hearts.
- Shared hunger: You both share one hunger bar. When one player eats, the whole team is fed.
- Shared inventory: A single 41-slot inventory is used by both players. Items one person picks up instantly appear for the other.
- Every choice matters: One player's mistake can hurt the team, and one brave move can save it. You win or lose together.
- Pure co-op: The mode is cooperative, never competitive. There is no way to score points against your partner.
- Hidden secret: Somewhere in the world hides a scripted royal castle, the Castle of Shoham, waiting to be discovered together.
Shared Life Challenge command guide
The Shared Life Challenge uses a small set of commands to check and manage the link between the two of you. Players mainly use the status command, while the relink, reset, and save commands are admin-only tools for fixing or preserving the pairing.
| Command | What it does | Who |
|---|---|---|
/sharedlife status | See your shared-life link and its state | Player |
/sharedlife relink | Re-pair the shared-life link | Admin |
/sharedlife reset | Wipe the shared-life link | Admin |
/sharedlife save | Force-save the link state | Admin |
/hub | Return to the lobby (Shoham's Kingdom) | Player |
/lobby | Return to the lobby | Player |
/leave | Leave the game and return to the lobby | Player |
Stuck or want to head back? Use /lobby or click the return-to-lobby compass in your hotbar to pop back to Shoham's Kingdom at any time.
Best tips for beginners
- Talk constantly. Say before you jump, fight, or dig, because your partner feels every hit.
- Pick roles: one player can gather and build while the other watches for danger and manages food.
- Keep an eye on the shared hunger bar and eat early, before it drops too low for the team.
- Never fight a mob you cannot win. Losing hearts costs both of you at once.
- Organize the shared 41-slot inventory together so you both know where tools and food live.
- Move as a duo. Splitting up far apart makes it hard to react when one of you is in trouble.
- Keep exploring corners of the map. The hidden Castle of Shoham is out there to find.
Better with friends
The Shared Life Challenge only truly comes alive with a friend, because it is designed from the ground up for a duo. You naturally fall into roles, a gatherer and a guardian, and you have to trust each other with the one life you share. The teamwork is real: a single brave rescue or one careless mistake changes everything for both of you. Those shared near-death escapes, the panicked shouts to eat or run, and the joy of finally uncovering the Castle of Shoham together are exactly the kind of memories that make this mode a favorite for two friends or siblings.
Notes for parents
In the Shared Life Challenge your child teams up with one friend, and the two share a single health bar, hunger bar, and inventory. It is fully cooperative, never competitive, so there is no way for the two players to compete against or beat each other; they can only succeed or struggle together. That makes it very beginner-friendly and a natural lesson in communication and patience. Safety is built in: every server is a private, friends-only whitelist so only people you approve can join, and a parent completes the checkout. If you are weighing options, see our Minecraft server for kids and our server for friends pages for more on how the private kingdoms work.
Troubleshooting
- Can't join the server: Make sure a parent added your account to the whitelist and that you are using the correct Java or Bedrock address for your kingdom.
- The portal doesn't work: Stand fully inside the Shared Life Challenge portal in the lobby and wait a moment; if nothing happens, use
/lobbyand try walking through again. - Can't invite your friend: Only whitelisted friends can play. Ask a parent to add them to your private whitelist first.
- Stuck, glitched, or lost: Run
/lobbyor use the return-to-lobby compass to get back to Shoham's Kingdom safely. - Shared life feels out of sync: Check
/sharedlife status. If the link looks broken, an admin can fix it with/sharedlife relink.
