Your Own Private Murder Mystery Server
Murder Mystery is the famous whodunnit game: one player is secretly the culprit, one is the detective with a bow, and everyone else must figure out who to trust. With SNT Gaming your friend group gets its own private Manor - no strangers, just deliciously suspicious friends.
🎮 You don't need to type any commands to play, just walk into the portal and click. Everything is set up for you. The commands below are optional extras, mostly for parents and older players.
What is Murder Mystery?
For players: everyone spawns in The Manor, a lantern-lit mansion full of rooms. Roles are secret: one player is the Mystery Culprit trying to catch everyone without being identified, one is the Detective with a bow, and the rest are Innocents. Innocents collect gold around the manor - collect enough and you earn a bow too. Watch who goes where, share suspicions, and unmask the culprit before it is too late!
For parents: it is a social-deduction game, like Mafia or Among Us inside Minecraft. There is no gore - caught players simply leave the round and watch the rest as spectators. Because your server is friends-only, the "who can you trust" fun stays warm and giggly rather than scary.
How to start playing
- Open Minecraft (Java or Bedrock) and join your SNT Gaming server.
- From the lobby, walk into the Murder Mystery portal.
- You are placed in the game queue automatically - no menus, no typing.
- When 2+ players are in, the countdown starts and everyone gets a secret role.
- Explore the manor, collect gold, watch your friends closely - and solve the mystery!
How Murder Mystery works
- Secret roles: each round randomly picks a culprit and a detective; everyone else is innocent. Nobody knows who is who.
- The culprit tries to quietly catch players one by one without revealing themselves.
- The detective carries a bow and must figure out who to stop - hitting an innocent is a costly mistake.
- Innocents collect gold that appears around the manor: 10 gold earns you a bow of your own.
- Rounds are short (about 4-5 minutes) and restart automatically - caught players spectate until the next round.
Murder Mystery command guide
Here is the best part: you do not need any commands to play Murder Mystery. Walk into the portal and the game does the rest. These optional commands exist for parents and older players, and they work the same on Java and Bedrock.
| Command | What it does | Who |
|---|---|---|
/mm join manor1 | Join The Manor queue | Player (automatic on arrival) |
/mm leave | Leave the current round | Player |
/hub | Return to the lobby (Shoham's Kingdom) | Player |
/lobby | Return to the lobby | Player |
/leave | Leave Murder Mystery and return to the lobby | Player |
You can also right-click the return-to-lobby compass in your hotbar to head back at any time.
Best tips for beginners
- Keep moving: a player standing alone in a corner is an easy target.
- Collect gold constantly - a bow of your own changes everything.
- Watch behavior, not words: who follows people? Who avoids the group? Suspicious!
- Detective: be sure before you shoot. Hitting an innocent helps the culprit.
- Culprit: be patient. Catch stragglers, act natural, and never chase in the open.
- Lost a round? Watch and learn - spectating reveals everyone's tricks for next time.
Better with friends
Murder Mystery is at its absolute best with people you know: the accusations, the gasps, the "I KNEW it was you!" - it all lands harder with friends and siblings. Rounds are quick, roles reshuffle every time, and the manor is full of corners for dramatic reveals. It is the perfect party game for a group call or a sleepover.
Notes for parents
Murder Mystery is a whodunnit deduction game, not a horror game: no blood or gore, caught players simply become spectators until the round restarts a few minutes later. All players are your child's own friends on a private whitelist, which keeps the bluffing playful. Joining needs no commands or menus - kids walk through a portal and the game handles everything. A parent completes the PayPal checkout and controls the whitelist. See our Minecraft server for kids and server for friends pages.
Troubleshooting
- The round doesn't start: you need at least 2 players in the queue - invite a friend or sibling in.
- I was caught early: you spectate the rest of the round - it restarts automatically in a few minutes.
- I can't find gold: it appears at spots around the manor every few seconds - patrol the rooms.
- The Murder Mystery portal doesn't work: stand fully inside it; if nothing happens, type
/lobbyand try again. - I can't join the server: check you're on the friends-only whitelist and using the exact Java or Bedrock address from your welcome email.

Do I have to type commands to play?
No. Walk into the Murder Mystery portal and you're placed in the round automatically - roles, gold, and resets all just happen.
How many players do I need?
2 starts a round (culprit vs detective duel!), but it shines with 4-12 - more innocents means more mystery.
Is it scary or violent?
No gore and no horror - caught players simply leave the round and watch. It's a deduction game, like Mafia with friends.
What does gold do?
Innocents who collect 10 gold earn a bow - suddenly the hunters can become the hunted.
What happens when I'm caught?
You spectate the rest of the round, which lasts a few minutes at most, then everyone reshuffles for a fresh round.
Does it work on Bedrock?
Yes. Java and Bedrock players investigate the same manor from any device.
How fast is it ready?
Minutes. After checkout we set up your kingdom and send you the Java and Bedrock connection details.
