Minecraft Beta & Preview 26.60.22/23, Every Fix You Need to Know
What Changed
Mojang dropped Minecraft Beta & Preview 26.60.22/23 on 8 September 2026, targeting Bedrock Edition across Xbox, PlayStation, Windows, iOS, and Android. This is a work-in-progress build, things can be rough around the edges, but it packs a surprisingly tidy bundle of gameplay corrections, quality-of-life additions, and behind-the-scenes technical clean-ups.
Gameplay & Blocks
- Note Block instrument sounds fixed: Wool and Concrete blocks now correctly trigger their intended instrument when placed under a Note Block, a bug that had been quietly annoying musicians for a while.
- Snappable Trapdoor placement: Hold the place-block button with a Trapdoor selected and every Trapdoor you place locks to the same facing direction until you let go. Great for building clean hatches and staircases.
- Axolotl Regeneration cap: Stacking Regeneration effects from multiple Axolotls to absurd levels is no longer possible, the effect can no longer be infinitely stacked.
- Mushroom placement relaxed: Red and Brown Mushrooms can now be placed on any block with a solid top face regardless of the light level. Spreading still requires dim conditions, so dark mushroom farms work exactly as before.
- Sneaking in water fixed: Players no longer pop out of sneak mode the moment they touch water, a long-standing annoyance finally resolved.
- Effect duration logic corrected: If a weaker but longer-lasting status effect was overridden by a stronger short one, the weaker effect failed to resume properly when the strong one wore off. That bug is now gone.
- Zombie item-grab crash fixed: A Zombie simultaneously lunging for several ground items could cause some of those items to vanish. Fixed.
- Straw Bed improvements: Can no longer be placed on a space already occupied by an entity, and old-world rendering errors have been corrected.
Commands
- The /clone command now correctly includes extended Pistons even when their arm reaches outside the cloned region.
- The /time command now refuses negative time values and handles overflow gracefully when adding time beyond the day cycle maximum.
UI, Accessibility & Platform Fixes
- Several Realms controller-navigation bugs fixed, including unenumerated modals and stuck save states on connection drops.
- Hardcore worlds are now labelled correctly inside Realm world slots.
- Large worlds can now be duplicated on Nintendo Switch when enough storage is free.
- Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text wraps and aligns correctly in chat, books, and signs.
- The Command Block screen no longer censors words mid-typing.
- Android: the back button works again in Ore UI, and first-keypress inputs no longer vanish in chat.
- PlayStation: world import text is now properly translated, and a render-resolution crash is resolved.
Why It Matters
On the surface this looks like a bug-fix sweep, and it largely is, but several of these corrections touch things players interact with constantly. The Trapdoor snapping feature alone will save builders real time. The Axolotl Regeneration cap restores intended game balance in survival play. And the effect-duration fix quietly corrects a bug that has existed since the early days of the potion system, making buff management in combat actually reliable.
For Realms users specifically, the Hardcore world labelling fix and the stuck-save-state correction are welcome reliability improvements.
Java and Bedrock
This release is Bedrock-only, it is a Beta and Preview build for the 26.60 Bedrock branch. There is no corresponding Java Edition snapshot attached to this drop. Java players and server owners on the 1.21.x line are unaffected by these specific changes, though many of the gameplay concepts (effect stacking, mushroom placement rules) exist in both editions.
For Server Owners
If you run a Bedrock-compatible server or use Geyser to bridge Java and Bedrock clients, the technical changes in this build deserve attention:
- Stricter entity JSON schemas take effect from data version 1.26.60 onward. Several components, including
minecraft:attack, minecraft:transformation, minecraft:behavior.tempt, and others, now reject previously tolerated shorthand values. Any custom add-on or behaviour pack that relies on loose formatting may fail to load on clients running this build or newer. - RakNet deprecation is now an error, not a warning on Dedicated Servers. If your server still relies on RakNet rather than NetherNet, this is a firm signal to migrate.
- Dedicated servers now exit cleanly when conflicting allow-list and online-mode settings are detected, rather than behaving unpredictably.
For Parents
Nothing in this update changes online safety settings, chat filtering, or account permissions, so your existing parental controls remain exactly as you set them. The fixes that matter most from a family perspective are the stability and crash corrections on PlayStation and Android, meaning fewer unexpected shutdowns during your child's play session. The Realms improvements also make managed multiplayer worlds more reliable when internet connections wobble.
For Players
Here are the highlights worth getting excited about:
- Build cleaner, faster, Trapdoor snapping means no more accidentally rotating hatches while placing a row of them.
- Note Block music is back on track, Wool and Concrete instruments now sound exactly as intended. Your contraptions and music machines should behave correctly again.
- Axolotl farms are still great, you just can't cheese infinite Regeneration from them any more, which keeps survival balanced and fair.
- Mushroom building gets easier, place Red and Brown Mushrooms freely on solid surfaces without worrying about light levels during construction.
- Sneak reliably in water, no more accidental un-sneaking when you wade in while trying to stay hidden or precise.
Remember: this is a Beta and Preview build. It is not the finished version, so expect the occasional rough edge. If something feels broken, report it at the official Mojang bug tracker.
Do SNT Kingdoms Need an Update?
No action needed, and SNT kingdoms are not affected by this release. Our kingdoms run Paper 1.21.11 backends behind a Velocity proxy, with Geyser + Floodgate handling Bedrock crossplay. Bedrock clients on version 26.x are not currently supported by our stack because PaperMC, Velocity, and the Via plugin family have not yet migrated to Mojang's year-based versioning scheme. Supported Bedrock clients connect through Geyser, and Java clients join using profiles from 1.13 up to 1.21.11 via ViaVersion, ViaBackwards, and ViaRewind.
The stricter add-on schemas introduced in this build apply only to native Bedrock dedicated servers running 1.26.60-format content, they have no impact on our Paper-based setup. We keep a close eye on upstream progress from PaperMC and the Via team, and we will update our kingdoms and announce any changes to supported client versions as soon as the ecosystem is ready. Your kingdom keeps running smoothly, no disruption, no action required from you.
