Minecraft Bedrock 26.50 "Wilderness Bound" Is Live, Everything You Need to Know

What Changed

Released on 15 September 2026, Minecraft: Bedrock Edition 26.50 โ€“ Wilderness Bound is the third Game Drop of the year and one of the meatiest content updates in recent memory. Here is a quick summary of everything that arrived:

The Dappled Forest Biome

A brand-new forest biome appears near cold regions of the world. It is home to Poplar Trees, which come in Red, Orange, and Yellow leaf varieties, as well as Shelf Mushrooms and Red Shrubs. Fallen Poplar logs dot the floor, and the colourful falling-leaf particles make the whole place feel like an autumn painting.

Abandoned Camps

Scattered across 19 different biomes (from Meadow and Cherry Grove all the way to Pale Garden and Bamboo Jungle), Abandoned Camps are small, atmospheric structures filled with chests, barrels, Straw Beds, and Cushions. Each biome gets its own visual variant. The real prize? Explorer Maps inside the chests that point you toward Ancient Cities, Mineshafts, Desert Pyramids, Ocean Ruins, and even other Abandoned Camps.

New Blocks and Items

Bug Fixes Worth Highlighting

Why It Matters

Wilderness Bound is more than pretty trees. The Abandoned Camp structure gives every player, whether they are a seasoned explorer or a first-week newcomer, an early, accessible reason to venture out and hunt for treasure maps. The Straw Bed cleverly rewards exploration by letting adventurers rest safely far from home without abandoning their spawn. And Wool/Concrete Stairs and Slabs finally unlock an enormous range of builds that builders have been requesting for years.

The bug fixes are equally significant. The inventory-wipe at (0,0,0), the Hopper side-collection glitch, and the Dropper misfires were all long-standing issues that affected automated farms and survival play. Getting these resolved in the same update as major new content is a welcome sign.

Java and Bedrock

This release is Bedrock Edition only. Java Edition players will need to wait for a separate update before they can visit the Dappled Forest or sit on a Cushion. If your group mixes Java and Bedrock players, be aware that Bedrock players on 26.50 will have access to all the new content, while Java players on 1.21.x will not see it yet in their own game client, though crossplay itself is unaffected at the server level.

For Server Owners

If you run a Bedrock-only server or a PaperMC/Geyser crossplay setup, here is what to think about:

For Parents

The headline features of this update are very family-friendly. Abandoned Camps encourage kids to explore the world with a sense of discovery and reward rather than just mining in one spot. Straw Beds reduce the frustration of losing your spawn when sleeping away from home, a small quality-of-life touch that makes long family survival sessions less stressful. The Dappled Forest is visually stunning and a safe, peaceful biome for younger players to explore. There is nothing scary or combat-heavy about this update; it is very much an outdoor adventure theme.

For Players

Here is the exciting bit: go exploring immediately. Head out to cold-adjacent biomes to find the Dappled Forest, look for those red, orange, and yellow leaves peeking above the treeline. Once you find a Poplar Tree, Shelf Mushrooms should be nearby (and yes, you can bounce on the large ones). Seek out Abandoned Camps in your favourite biome and loot the chests for Explorer Maps, those maps can lead you to Ancient Cities, which are among the most thrilling (and dangerous) destinations in the game. Craft yourself a stack of Straw Beds before you set off so you can sleep anywhere without losing your home spawn. And builders, Wool and Concrete Stairs are here at last. Go wild.

Do SNT Kingdoms Need an Update?

Not yet, and here is why. SNT Gaming kingdoms run Paper 1.21.11 backends with Geyser + Floodgate handling Bedrock crossplay. Bedrock clients on version 26.x are not yet supported by our stack because PaperMC, Velocity, and the Via family of plugins have not yet migrated to Mojang's new year-based versioning system.

This means that if you update your Bedrock client to 26.50, you will temporarily be unable to connect to your SNT kingdom until the underlying server software catches up. Our recommendation: hold off on updating your Bedrock app if staying connected to your kingdom is a priority right now. We are watching the PaperMC and Geyser release channels closely, and the moment full 26.x support lands we will push the update to all kingdoms automatically, no action needed from you. We will announce it here and in your kingdom dashboard the moment it is ready.
