Minecraft Beta & Preview 26.50.20: Cushions, Camp Fixes, and a Hopper Hero Moment

What Changed

Minecraft Beta & Preview 26.50.20, released on 21 July 2026 for Android, Xbox, PlayStation, and Windows (iOS skipped this round), is a wide-ranging work-in-progress build touching experimental Drop 3 content, long-standing bug fixes, and a significant round of UI modernisation. Here are the highlights:

Drop 3 Experimental Fixes

Gameplay Bug Fixes

UI & Accessibility

Why It Matters

This build is a strong signal that Drop 3's new biome content, Abandoned Camps, Cushions, Shelf Mushrooms, Poplar trees, is maturing toward release quality. The experimental tag is still on, but loot tables now work, block interactions are stable, and visual parity with Java is being actively pursued. The Hopper and Dropper fixes are particularly significant: both bugs had lingered for years and affected redstone contraptions in large, well-explored worlds.

Java and Bedrock

This release is Bedrock-only (Beta and Preview channels). Java Edition follows its own snapshot cadence and does not share version numbers with Bedrock's new year-based scheme. If you play Java, keep an eye on the separate Java snapshot feed for Drop 3 progress there. Bedrock players on Android can opt into the Beta via Google Play; Xbox, PlayStation, and Windows users join through the Preview programme, just remember these builds can be unstable.

For Server Owners

Several fixes here are worth monitoring as they approach stable release. The Hopper side-collection bug at large coordinates is a classic headache for anyone running sprawling survival worlds with complex item-sorting systems, its fix could subtly change how existing contraptions behave once it ships to release. Likewise, the Dropper direction fix may break redstone builds deliberately designed around the old (wrong) behaviour, so it's worth flagging to technical players in your community ahead of time. The new Tick Speed = 0 option in Game Settings is a handy tool for world management and could be useful during events or builds.

For Parents

Nothing in this update changes online safety settings, chat filters, or parental controls. In fact, the profanity filter improvements for Realms custom packs show that safety guardrails are being extended further, not removed. The accessibility improvements, green nausea vignette, better closed captions, corrected Korean fonts, make the game more comfortable and inclusive for a wider range of young players. If your child is on the Beta or Preview version, just be aware these builds are experimental and occasional glitches are normal; switching back to the stable release is always an option.

For Players

Drop 3 is shaping up really nicely! If you're playing the Preview or Beta, head to an Abandoned Camp and crack open a Secret Chest, you should now find actual Diamonds and Potions inside instead of a heap of copper chains (finally!). Try placing Cushions next to each other, sit down, and notice how much smoother it feels compared to earlier builds. Wolf fans in Dappled Forests will be happy to see the right fluffy Pale Wolf variant showing up. And redstone enthusiasts, go test your Hopper sorters, because a very old bug just got squashed.

Do SNT Kingdoms Need an Update?

SNT kingdoms run Paper 1.21.11 / Fabric 1.21.4 backends behind a Velocity proxy, with Geyser+Floodgate handling Bedrock crossplay. Bedrock client version 26.x, the version family this Beta belongs to, is not yet supported by PaperMC, Velocity, or the Via suite, because the broader server ecosystem has not yet migrated to Mojang's new year-based versioning scheme.

What this means practically:

In short: your kingdom is stable, your worlds are safe, and nothing needs touching today. We'll post an update the moment the ecosystem catches up to the new version format.
