Minecraft Bedrock 26.34 Hotfix: Texture Bleeding Fix for PlayStation & Switch
What Changed
On 23 July 2026, Mojang began rolling out Minecraft Bedrock Edition 26.34, a focused hotfix targeting PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. The update carries exactly one fix:
- Graphical, Texture bleeding on custom blocks: When a custom block used automatic face UV assignment and its texture was smaller than expected, neighbouring texture colours would "bleed" into the edges of that block's faces, creating messy visual artefacts. That unwanted smearing is now gone.
Because this is a platform-approval hotfix rather than a global simultaneous launch, it may appear in your PlayStation or Switch update queue at slightly different times. A little patience goes a long way!
Why It Matters
Texture bleeding sounds technical, but the effect is very visible, imagine placing a sleek custom decorative block and noticing a stripe of the wrong colour bleeding across its edge like a bad paint job. For worlds that use add-ons or marketplace content with custom blocks, this could make builds look broken even when the creator did everything right. Hotfixes like this one keep the game looking crisp without waiting for a full version cycle.
The narrowness of this fix is actually good news: it tells us the broader 26.x release was otherwise stable enough that only one graphical edge-case needed urgent attention.
Java and Bedrock
Java Edition is unaffected, this hotfix is strictly a Bedrock matter, and the texture UV issue was specific to how Bedrock handles automatic block-face assignments in its rendering pipeline. Java's block model system works differently, so Java players won't notice a thing. On the Bedrock side, the fix is PlayStation and Switch only; other Bedrock platforms (PC Windows, Android, iOS, Xbox) are not mentioned in this rollout, suggesting they either didn't exhibit the bug or received the correction through a different channel.
For Server Owners
If you run a Bedrock-compatible server with custom add-ons or marketplace content featuring undersized block textures, this hotfix is a relief, your PlayStation and Switch players will no longer see those distracting graphical glitches on affected blocks. No server-side changes are required; the fix lives entirely on the client. Just make sure your players on those platforms have applied the update before they log in, otherwise the visual quirk may still appear on their end until they do.
For Parents
This is a small, safe, behind-the-scenes tidy-up. If your child plays Minecraft on a PlayStation or Nintendo Switch, you may see a routine update notification appear in the console's update queue, it's perfectly normal and recommended. It doesn't add new content, change gameplay, or touch any account or privacy settings. Simply approve the update when prompted and everything continues as before, just looking a little cleaner.
For Players
Playing on PS5, PS4, or a Nintendo Switch? Keep an eye on your updates! Once 26.34 lands on your console, any custom blocks that looked weirdly smudged or had strange colour fringing around their edges should look sharp and correct again. If you haven't noticed the bug, great, lucky you! Either way, grabbing the update is always a good idea. Everything else in the game stays exactly the same; this patch is purely about making things look right.
Do SNT Kingdoms Need an Update?
No action is needed on SNT kingdoms at this time. Here's the full picture:
- SNT kingdoms use Geyser + Floodgate to bridge Bedrock players into the Paper 1.21.11 backend, the servers themselves run Java under the hood.
- Bedrock clients on version 26.x are not yet supported by SNT kingdoms, because PaperMC, Velocity, and the Via family of plugins have not yet migrated to Mojang's year-based versioning scheme. This means players on Bedrock 26.34 cannot connect to SNT kingdoms regardless of this hotfix.
- The fix itself is purely graphical and client-side, so it introduces no protocol or API changes that would affect Geyser compatibility anyway.
- PlayStation and Switch players who are on a supported older Bedrock version can continue to enjoy all six kingdom worlds, Survival, SharedLife, RandomLoot, Chaos, Spleef, and Rivals, without interruption.
We're keeping a close watch on the PaperMC and Via ecosystems for year-based version support. The moment 26.x clients can connect safely, we'll be ready to roll out compatibility across all SNT kingdoms.
