Minecraft Bedrock 26.30 – Chaos Cubed Is Here: Sulfur Caves, Block-Hungry Mobs & More
What Changed
Bedrock Edition 26.30, titled Chaos Cubed, released on 16 June 2026. It is one of the biggest content drops in recent memory, combining a brand-new biome, a quirky new mob, two full block sets, new music, and a long list of gameplay and accessibility fixes.
Sulfur Springs & Sulfur Caves
Scattered across the Overworld you can now stumble across Sulfur springs, shallow pools edged with yellow Sulfur and deep-red Cinnabar blocks, with noxious gas drifting upward. Dig beneath one and you'll break into a Sulfur cave: a new underground biome lit by glow lichen, studded with Sulfur Spikes, and filled with both Sulfur and Cinnabar in abundance.
The Sulfur Cube Mob
The star of the drop is the Sulfur Cube, a curious mob that literally eats blocks and changes its behaviour depending on what it's fed. Feed it the right block and it may bounce, slide, or travel long distances. Feed it a Magma block for a hot-potato situation. Feed it TNT if you enjoy living dangerously. You can even scoop one into a bucket and carry it home like a very unstable pet.
New Blocks
- Sulfur & Cinnabar block sets, full sets including stairs, slabs, bricks, and cobbled variants in bold yellow and red.
- Potent Sulfur, place it under water to create bubbling columns and noxious gas clouds that inflict nausea on players and mobs nearby.
- Sulfur Spikes, decorative spikes that grow on Sulfur and Cinnabar; mostly harmless underfoot, but they can fall.
- Geysers, a Magma block under a submerged Potent Sulfur block creates a natural geyser that launches players skyward.
New Music
Composer fingerspit (Paula Ruiz) contributed a full suite of new tracks. A music disc called "Bounce" can be found in Minecart Chests inside abandoned mineshafts within Sulfur Caves. Five additional tracks, Ebb, Home, Memories, Nightly, and Shores, have been added to the main menu, Creative Mode, and over twenty biomes including Desert, Lush Caves, Swamp, and the new Sulfur Caves.
Bug Fixes Worth Knowing
- Item duplication when crossing chunk borders in The End is fixed.
- Bees now correctly pollinate Spore Blossoms and Chorus Flowers, and can be bred with them.
- Iron doors and stone buttons now generate properly in strongholds.
- Strider loot is now affected by the Looting enchantment.
- Dedicated servers now have the allow list enabled by default in
server.properties. - Offline multiplayer infinite-load issues are largely resolved.
- Achievements are no longer incorrectly blocked when Add-ons are enabled.
Why It Matters
Chaos Cubed is more than a cosmetic refresh. The Sulfur Cube fundamentally changes how players interact with their environment, it is part combat tool, part redstone-style contraption, part chaotic wildcard. The two new block sets give builders a vivid colour palette that has been missing from the game's natural blocks for a while. Meanwhile, the server-side allow list change is a meaningful security improvement for anyone running a dedicated Bedrock instance.
Java and Bedrock
This release is Bedrock-only. The Chaos Cubed content, Sulfur caves, the Sulfur Cube mob, Cinnabar, Potent Sulfur, Geysers, and the new music, is not part of any Java Edition release at the time of writing. Java players will need to wait for a separate announcement from Mojang before they can experience any of this content in their own edition.
For Server Owners
Two changes in this update are directly relevant if you manage any kind of Bedrock-compatible server:
- Allow list on by default. Dedicated servers built fresh from the 26.30 package will have
allow-list=trueset inserver.propertiesfrom the start. A warning will appear at startup if the list is enabled but empty, so don't ignore that console output when you spin up a new instance. - Connection name filtering. The server now rejects connections from players whose usernames could interfere with game functions, closing a potential exploit vector.
If you run vanilla Bedrock dedicated servers, updating and reviewing your allow list immediately is the right call.
For Parents
The Sulfur Cube is designed to be experimental and a little unpredictable, that's the point! Children will want to test every block combination they can find, which is a genuinely creative and curiosity-driven activity. The one thing worth a brief chat: feeding TNT to a Sulfur Cube causes an explosion. In survival mode that has real consequences (lost items, damage), so it's worth letting younger players know to experiment somewhere safe, or in Creative mode first. The noxious gas from Potent Sulfur also causes a nausea effect, which can be disorienting on screen, so be aware if your child is sensitive to motion effects in games.
For Players
Here's your quick adventure checklist for Chaos Cubed:
- 🟡 Hunt the Overworld surface for yellow-and-red Sulfur spring pools.
- 🕳️ Dig down beneath one to find a glowing Sulfur cave.
- 🧊 Scoop up a Sulfur Cube with a bucket before it rolls away.
- 🧱 Feed it different blocks and record what happens, some results are very surprising.
- 💿 Search abandoned mineshaft Minecart Chests inside Sulfur Caves for the "Bounce" music disc.
- 🏗️ Start building with Cinnabar Bricks or Sulfur Stairs for a bold new look.
- 🌋 Build a Geyser and see how high it can launch you.
Do SNT Kingdoms Need an Update?
Not yet, and that's perfectly fine. SNT kingdoms run on Paper 1.21.11 backends with Velocity as the proxy and Geyser + Floodgate for Bedrock crossplay. Bedrock clients on version 26.x are not yet supported because PaperMC, Velocity, and the Via suite have not yet migrated to Mojang's new year-based versioning scheme. This means a Bedrock player who updates to 26.30 will not be able to connect to their SNT kingdom until that compatibility work is complete upstream.
If you or your child plays on an SNT kingdom via Bedrock, we recommend holding off on updating your Minecraft app until we confirm 26.x support is ready. Java players on 1.13–1.21.11 are completely unaffected and can keep playing normally today. We are watching the PaperMC and Velocity release channels closely and will post an update the moment kingdoms are ready to welcome 26.x clients.
